User Agreement

1. Overview

Parakleo is a canvas-first thinking workspace for Scripture study, sermon preparation, and related learning. The Service helps you read sources, capture excerpts, connect ideas on a visual canvas, and use guided AI (Ask PK) to support your own thinking — not replace it.

By creating an account or using Parakleo, you agree to this User Agreement. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Terms of Service

2.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). If you use Parakleo on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

2.2 Your account

• You are responsible for your credentials and all activity under your account.
• Provide accurate registration information.
• Notify [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this agreement or pose security risk.

2.3 Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes.
• Infringe others’ intellectual property, privacy, or rights.
• Bypass security, access controls, usage limits, or feature flags.
• Scrape or bulk-extract licensed Bible text beyond normal personal use.
• Reverse engineer the Service except where law permits.
• Use bots or scripts to abuse accounts or AI resources without permission.
• Harass, threaten, or impersonate others.
• Use Ask PK to generate deceptive or harmful content.

2.4 Your content

You retain ownership of content you create. You grant Gomezerg a limited license to host, store, process, and display your content solely to operate Parakleo — including sending bounded context to AI subprocessors when you use Ask PK.

2.5 Shared workspaces & organizations

Members with access may view or edit shared content per their role. Organization administrators may configure policies (for example, disabling Ask PK). You are responsible for what you share.

2.6 Availability & disclaimers

Parakleo is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Parakleo is a study tool, not a substitute for pastoral counsel or authoritative Scripture interpretation. AI responses may be incomplete or incorrect — verify Scripture and conclusions yourself.

2.7 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gomezerg is not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of amounts paid in the prior twelve months or USD $50. Some jurisdictions limit these exclusions.

2.8 Termination

You may stop using Parakleo at any time. We may suspend access for violations. Survival clauses (privacy, liability, disputes) remain in effect.

3. Privacy Policy

3.1 What we collect

We do not sell your personal information.

3.3 AI-specific privacy

• Ask PK sends a bounded context from your workspace — not necessarily your entire account.
• Requests and responses may be stored for history and usage accounting.
• Organization admins may disable Ask PK for members.
• Do not put passwords or payment card numbers in AI prompts.

3.4 Retention & your rights

We retain data while your account is active and as required by law. Contact [email protected] to request access, correction, deletion, or export where applicable law provides those rights.

3.5 Cookies & children

We use browser storage for sessions and preferences — not advertising cookies. Parakleo is not directed at children under 13.

4. Copyright & intellectual property

4.1 Parakleo brand & software

Parakleo’s name, logo, design, templates, and software are owned by Gomezerg or licensors. Do not copy or redistribute except as this agreement allows.

4.2 Scripture & translations

Bible text is provided through licensed APIs (primarily API.Bible). Translation text remains the property of copyright holders. You may not redistribute Bible text obtained through Parakleo outside personal study and ministry preparation permitted by the underlying license. You are responsible for quotation and attribution when publishing materials.

4.3 Imported content

Excerpts from books, PDFs, or websites must respect source copyright. Parakleo facilitates capture for personal study; it does not grant rights to third-party works.

4.4 Infringement reports

Report copyright concerns to [email protected] with identification of the work, location of material, and your contact information.

5. Third-party content & services

Integrations (Scripture APIs, AI, payments, optional Microsoft export) are also subject to each provider’s terms. We are not responsible for third-party outages or policy changes outside our control.

6. Other study tools & third-party apps

Parakleo is an independent product by Gomezerg. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any other Bible software, study app, or AI service unless we explicitly state otherwise.

You may use Parakleo alongside other tools. Data does not automatically sync between Parakleo and other apps unless you import or copy content yourself or use an integration we provide (for example, optional Microsoft export).

Parakleo only processes data you store in Parakleo or send through Ask PK. We do not access your accounts, libraries, or content in other apps.

Each third-party app or service you use has its own terms and privacy policy. You are responsible for reviewing those policies before sharing personal or ministry data in those products.

If other product names appear in our marketing or documentation, they are for illustration only. Trademarks belong to their respective owners.

7. Security

• Authentication via Supabase (password hashing, optional OTP & TOTP MFA).
• Encryption in transit (HTTPS) for all traffic.
• Row Level Security so users access only permitted workspaces.
• Server-side API keys — Bible and OpenAI keys never exposed to the browser.
• Encrypted tokens for connected accounts (e.g., Microsoft).

Your responsibilities: strong unique password, enable MFA, review org membership, report vulnerabilities to [email protected]. No system is perfectly secure.

8. Responsible use of AI (Ask PK)

Ask PK is guided thinking assistance, not authoritative teaching or pastoral counsel.

Designed for

• Clarifying passages in your workspace context
• Suggesting connections between captured objects
• Structuring outlines and study notes

Not designed for

• Replacing prayer, community discernment, or professional counsel
• Infallible Scripture interpretation
• Citing without verifying against Scripture
• Medical, legal, or financial advice

AI may hallucinate (invent verses or facts). Verify references. Respect organization AI policies and usage limits.

9. Fair use of resources

Plans (FREE, PRO, ORG) include entitlements — workspace count, sharing, AI tiers. Personal and ministry use within limits is expected.

Abuse includes automated bulk AI requests, evading limits with multiple accounts, using Parakleo to redistribute Bible text, or degrading service for others. We may throttle, warn, suspend, or terminate abusive accounts.

10. Beta program

Parakleo is a public beta. Features may change. Maintain your own backups of critical work. Pricing may change before general availability. Support is best-effort via [email protected].

11. Communications & email

11.1 Transactional (required)

We send emails and in-app notices necessary to operate Parakleo. You cannot opt out of these while keeping an active account. Examples:

• Email verification and sign-in codes
• Password reset and security alerts
• Workspace and organization invitations
• Billing receipts (when paid plans are enabled)
• Support replies to tickets you open
• Important service notices (policy changes, critical outages)

By accepting this User Agreement, you agree we may send transactional messages to your account email.

11.2 Marketing & promotional (opt-in only)

We do not send marketing, newsletters, or promotional email unless you separately opt in. Accepting this User Agreement does not subscribe you to marketing.

Marketing includes product tips, “what’s new” updates, beta offers, and promotional pricing. Opt in via the optional, unchecked checkbox on signup (“product updates & tips”).

Your choice is stored on your profile. Default is off for new accounts.

Opt out anytime: unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or email [email protected]. Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional email.

We do not sell your email to third parties for their marketing.

11.3 In-app product messages

We may show in-app messages about Parakleo features, beta feedback, or plan upgrades. These are not third-party ads. If third-party advertising is ever added, we will update this agreement first.

11.4 Delivery & organizations

Email is delivered via providers such as Resend. Organization administrators may send operational invites and notices through Parakleo — separate from Gomezerg marketing.

12. Changes, contact & governing law

We may update this agreement. Material changes will update the version date and may require re-acceptance before continued use.

This agreement is governed by applicable law where Gomezerg operates. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
